June is almost here, and there are a lot of fun things happening around Hickory and the surrounding areas — live music, farmers markets, baseball, soccer, food trucks, Juneteenth celebrations, and small-town summer concerts.

Here are a few local events worth checking out this month:

Hickory

Sails Original Music Series — Downtown Hickory
The Sails Original Music Series is back in Downtown Hickory with free Friday night concerts under The Sails. Performances begin at 7 PM on Friday evenings in June. The June lineup includes Tyler Ramsey Trio on June 5, Dulci on June 12, Chatham County Line on June 19, and Pretty Little Goat on June 26. (WHKY)

Downtown Hickory Farmers Market
The Downtown Hickory Farmers Market is a great place to shop local for produce, baked goods, meats, cheeses, flowers, and handmade items. It’s held under The Sails on Union Square during the main season.

Hickory Crawdads Baseball
A Crawdads game is always a fun summer outing, especially for families. Check their schedule for June home games and promotions.

Hickory FC Home Games
If you enjoy soccer, Hickory FC has several home games in June. Games are scheduled for June 20 at 7 PM vs. Wake FC, June 24 at 7 PM vs. Tobacco Road FC, and June 27 at 7 PM vs. Charlotte Independence 2. (visithickorync.com)

Juneteenth Festival: Stronger Together — Lenoir-Rhyne University
Lenoir-Rhyne University is hosting a Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 20, from 3–8 PM, with arts, culture, and community.

Newton

Music on Main — Downtown Newton
Newton’s Music on Main summer concert series continues on Thursday, June 11, with Bourbon Sons performing at the Frank & Sue Jones Amphitheatre. Music starts at 6 PM. (downtownnewton.org)

Newton Performing Arts Center Events
Newton Performing Arts Center also has several June events and shows, so this is a good option if you’re looking for something indoors or a fun night out.

Conover

Conover Juneteenth Concert
Conover is hosting a Juneteenth concert on Friday, June 19, featuring live music by the N-SPIRE Band. The event is listed at Conover City Park from 6–10 PM. (Conover NC)

Morganton

TGIF Summer Concert Series — Downtown Morganton
Downtown Morganton’s TGIF Summer Concert Series is a fun Friday night option. Food and beverages usually start at 6 PM, with music beginning at 7 PM. June concerts include Tuatha Dea, Coming Up Brass, Thomas Anthony, and Soul Watt Band.

Lenoir

Friday Night Live — Downtown Lenoir
Downtown Lenoir’s Friday Night Live summer concert series begins in June, with free live music, community fun, and local flavor on the Downtown Square.

Taylorsville

Alexander County Summer Concert Series
Taylorsville’s summer concert series continues on Saturday, June 6, with Harvest Moon, a Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young tribute band. The concert is held at the Alexander County Courthouse Park Rotary Stage.

Claremont

Eat, Drink and Be Local / Farm Feast
Farm Feast is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, from 6–9 PM at True Cut Ranch in Claremont. This is a great event for anyone who enjoys local food, farms, and supporting the local food community.

Mooresville

Festival of Food Trucks — Downtown Mooresville
Downtown Mooresville’s Festival of Food Trucks is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, from 5–8:30 PM, with food trucks, live music, and a fun downtown atmosphere.

There’s definitely no shortage of things to do around Hickory this June. Whether you want live music, a farmers market, a baseball game, a soccer match, or a quick trip to a nearby town, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the start of summer.
